Modern Art Featured at 888 Auctions’ for Last Summer Auction of the Year

Richmond Hill, ON – The last auction of the summer from 888 Auctions features an eclectic collection of 401 fresh-to-market items. Featured in this month’s August 31st auction will be modern art, jewelry, stamps, and Chinese bronzes with quality offerings available in a variety of categories.

Headlining the summer auction will be an assortment of modern art ranging from a Guy Wiggins oil on canvas to famed pop artist Andy Warhol. Featured at Lot 77 is a Roy Lichtenstein (1923-1997) American Pencil on Paper painting of Marilyn Monroe. Signed and attributed to the American artist, Roy Lichtenstein, is features serial number 7038 on the back and is expected to surpass its high estimate of $5,000. The aforementioned Andy Warhol piece can be found at Lot 82. It is a marker on paper painting of high heel shoe and features a $2,000 high estimate.

Boasting exceptional provenance – having been brought to Canada from Hong Kong in the 1980s – and featuring a square seal surmounted by a spraying water dragon, this finely carved piece features a high estimate of $70,000.

Buyers looking to bid on auspicious items are in luck. Lot 188 features a Burma Green Jadeite Carved Bangle and estimate at $2,000. A fine piece of jewelry can be found at the Lot 209 featuring a 2.91ct and 0.17ct Diamond Ring with a high estimate of $8,000.

An auction would not be complete with a strong showing from the Porcelain Ceramics and Bronzes category and this auction will be sure to please discerning buyers. Estimate at $20,000, Lot 288 features a Chinese Famille Rose Gilt Porcelain Vase Qianlong. For those looking for something out of the ordinary, collectors need not go far in checking out Lot 372 features a Chinese Cloisonne Enamel Bronze Rooster Statue; Lot 372 commands a high estimate of $80,000.
