Art Deco, Jewelry, Jade & Asian Art at 888 Auctions Set to Dazzle March 16

Richmond Hill, ON – March 16th marks the first auction of the spring and 888 Auctions is proud to feature a dazzling collection of 407 lots of Art Deco, Jewelry, Jade. The fresh-to-market items will be available to the discerning collector and will feature quality paintings, jewelry, rare stone and jade carved items, ceramic porcelains, and bronzeware.

Headlining the auction will be Lot 361, a Chinese Fine Gilt Bronze Buddha Figure. Depicting a crowned Kshitigarbha bodhisattva seated in dhyanasana with hands in dhyana mudra and bearing a six-character Ming Yongle mark on the sealed base, this figure commands a high estimate of US$30,000.


 

Another featured lot of the auction can be found at Lot 151, a Grade AA Chinese Green Jadeite Bangle. Accompanied with a GIA Certificate and of apple green tone, the jadeite bangle is expected to surpass its high estimate of US$20,000.

Jewelry continues to hold a special place for buyers and this auction will feature a plethora of lots that are sure to surprise on auction day. These pieces can be found at the following lots:

Lot 175: 4.5ct Natural Aquamarine Stone Pendant (High Estimate: US$1,200)

Lot 179: 1.15ct Ruby&1.12ct Diamond Pendant & Chain (High Estimate: US$15,000)

Lot 196: 2.00ct Sapphire and 1.00ct Diamond Ring (High Estimate: US$19,000)

Lot 197: 0.69ct Emerald and 1.12ct Diamond Ring (High Estimate: US$15,000)

Ceramics continue to be in high demand and for those worried about the soaring prices being fetched on the open market many may be pleased to find a bargain on March 16th. Nestled at Lot 310, a Chinese Blue and White Porcelain Charger features a Mandarin fish in pond with lotus; decorated with leafy and floral pattern. It is expected to surpass its high estimate of US$6,000.

Collectors and buyers are now accustomed to finding quality paintings and this auction is no exception. Two lots stand out in particular and can be found near the beginning of the auction:

Lot 8: Qiu Ying (1494-1552) Watercolour on Silk Hand Scroll (High Estimate: US$10,000)

Lot 16: Norval Morrisseau Acrylic on Paper Canada (1932-2007) (High Estimate: US$8,000)
