Richmond Hill, ON – The start of the summer season has not put a damper on demand for the items up for auction at 888 Auctions. With strong results achieved during its Spring season, the upcoming June 6 auction features a strong catalog featuring 410 fresh-to-market items with a strong emphasis on Paintings, Modern Art and Asian Antiques, Thursday, June 6, 2019 at 2 PM (EST).

The star lot of the auction is Lot 249, an attributed Edouard Manet French Impressionist Oil on Boardhttp://bid.888auctions.com/lot/52022620/edouard-manet-french-impressionist-oil-on-board/?cpage=5&q=&ref=catalog. Featuring an impressionist portrait of a lady enjoying her leisure in a clearing and signed Manet on the lower right corner, Lot 249 is expected to surpass its high estimate of $7,000 and is already garnering significant interest from interested bidders.

Another unique addition to the catalog can also be found at Lot 125, a Winston Churchill British Impressionist Painted Jewel Box. It is accompanied with a letter and painted with an impressionist landscape scene on all four sides of the box, Lot 125 commands a high estimate of $5,000.

Abstract paintings continue to be a very attractive category and bidders can find two pieces of particular interest at the following lots below:

Lot 173: Cy Twombly American Abstract Oil on Canvas (High Estimate: $5,000)

Lot 233:Antoni Tapies Spanish Informalist Mixed Media (High Estimate: $5,000)

Signed lithographs and linocuts continue to draw significant interest from many buyers and the June 6 auction hopes to continue this hot trend. Six lots are highlighted in this category with particular interest on Lot 28, an attributed Roy Lichtenstein American Pop Signed Lithograph and Numbered 12/400 (High Estimate: $4,000). Another lithograph garnering interest is Lot 73, an attributed Henri Matisse French Fauvist Signed Lithograph and numbered 64/75 (High Estimate: $4,000).

Chinese antiques have found new life over the past few auctions at 888 Auctions with Chinese ceramics lifting this relatively dormant category. Bidders will then be pleased to find the inclusion of Lot 386, a Chinese Blue & White Porcelain Moon Flask Qianlong with a commanding high estimate of $20,000. This blue and white porcelain moon flask is of flattened round form body and flanked with curved handles in the shape of lingzhi fungi. Painted with floral and leafy patterns and bearing a six-character Qianlong Mark on base, this piece is an exceptional example of a Qing Dynasty blue and white porcelain.

Modern paintings are a broad but exciting category and a few have been finding some serious inquiries from bidders in the early going. Lot 202, a Hajime Okuda American Oil on Canvas Landscape, features a landscape scene of coastline and beach. It is entitled Lahaima Front and is expected to find a buyer well above its high estimate of $2,500.

Another modernist painting is expected to find a buyer above its high estimate. Lot 210, an attributed Diego Rivera Mexican Modernist Oil on Canvas painting has found vigorous absentee bidding and is expected to surpass its high estimate of $5,000 before live bidding even begins.
