Modern Art, Gems & Asian Antiques Set to Lead the Way at 888 Auctions November 11, 2020
Richmond Hill, ON – The first auction of the winter season looks to kick off with a bang November 5, 2020 with an emphasis on Modern Art, Gems & Asian Antiques. With an offering of 342 fresh-to-market items, the live auction begins at 2 PM (EST) on Thursday, November 5, 2020.
Leading the way will be Lot 147, an attributed Mr. Brainwash French Signed Silkscreen 9/100. Featuring a figure being pulled along by a satellite and signed “M-Brainwash” in the bottom right corner. “9/100” inscribed to the bottom left corner. Lot 147 carries a high estimate of $2,000.
Two other lithographs featured in this auction also deserve to share the spotlight. Lot 102, an attributed MC. Escher Dutch Signed Lithograph 95/100 (High Estimate: $2,000) and Lot 148, an attributed Diego Rivera Mexican Signed Linocut 35/75 (High Estimate: $2,000).
From the modern art category, several lots are set to garner significant interest in the lead up to the auction. Lot 121, an attributed Gerda Wegener Danish Art Deco Watercolor on Paper carries a high estimate of $2,000. Signed “GERDA WEGENER” in the bottom right corner and stamped on verso with “Galerie Beyeler Paris”, GALERIE LOUISE LEIRIS”, and “Galerie Mathias Fels PARIS”.
Lot 133, an attributed Kees Van Dongen Dutch Modernist Oil on Canvas, is also an appealing piece featured at auction. Depicting ships docked by the pier and signed “Van Dongen” in the bottom right corner, this piece is expected to surpass its $2,000 high estimate.

A single diamond is featured in the November 5, 2020 auction and can be found at Lot 92: 1.020 ct Brilliant Round Diamond D Color VS2 NGIC. Bidding starts at $25 and accompanied with an NGIC certificate and is expected to surpass its high estimate of $2,500. Lot 327, a Chinese Two Tone Imperial Green Jadeite Bangle is also garnering interest and carries a High Estimate of $3,000.
