Modern Art, Antiques & Gems Set the Tone at 888 Auctions November 19, 2020 Auction

Richmond Hill, ON – The auction market remains strong even with the surge of COVID-19 cases around the world and with many bidders transitioning online, 888 Auctions looks to reap the benefits at its November 19, 2020 auction with an emphasis on Modern Art, Antiques & Gems. With an offering of 324 fresh-to-market items, the live auction begins at 2 PM (EST) on Thursday, November 19, 2020.

Lot 107 is the headlining lot of the auction, featuring a William Draper 1912-2003 American Oil on Canvas dated 1947 Painting. An amusement park landscape scene is depicted in the relatively large painting with the artist’s signature on the bottom right corner and 47 inscribed beside the signature. Boasting provenance from the Artemis Gallery in Louisville, Kentucky, Lot 107 commands a high estimate of $7,000.

Serbian modern art is heavily featured in the auction; five in particular are finding the spotlight in this late November sale. They can be found at the lots below:

Lot 87: Mira Maodus b. 1942 Serbian Acrylic on Canvas (High Estimate: $3,000)

Lithographs continue to draw strong interest at the auction house with collectors eager to look for quality offerings. A few in particular have been highlighted below:

Lot 112: Andy Warhol American Pop Signed Silkscreen 1/10 (High Estimate: $500)

Lot 118: Wassily Kandinsky Russian Signed Linocut Etching (High Estimate: $2,000)

Lot 125: Rene Magritte Belgian Signed Linocut 175/200 (High Estimate: $2,000)

Lot 137: Marc Chagall Russian-French Lithograph (High Estimate: $2,000)

Lot 187: Tamara de Lempicka Polish Signed Linocut 39/100 (High Estimate: $2,000)

An auction at 888 Auctions would not be completed without the inclusion of Chinese art and antiques. Lot 239, a Chinese-Burma Imperial Green Jadeite Bangle GIA, appears to be gaining traction amongst potential buyers. Expected to hammer down, Lot 239 carries a high estimate of $3,000.
