Claude Raguet Hirst

Claude Raguet Hirst (1855 – 1942) started painting lessons at the age of ten and had three of her early works exhibited in the Cincinnati Industrial Exposition in 1872. Hirst was one of the only women to use trompe-l’œil (“fool the eye”) technique during the Victorian Era, with a particular focus on library table compositions.
