Gems, Fine Paintings & Antiques Headline 888 Auctions’ August 27, 2020 Auction
Richmond Hill, ON – August 27, 2020 marks the final auction of the summer season and with buyers still cautiously returning back to the fold, 888 Auctions will be hosting a 378-lot auction featuring the best in Gems, Fine Paintings and Antiques. Live online and phone bidding will be available starting at 2 PM (EST).
The highlight of the auction is Lot 191, an attributed Roy Lichtenstein American Pop Signed Lithograph on paper. Entitled, “Blue Nude”. Inscribed 1/140 and signed Roy Lichtenstein on the lower left and lower right corner, respectively, Lot 191 is expected to surpass its high estimate of $2,000.

Several standout pieces from the modern art category are featured in this summer sale. Most notable amongst this collection of fine paintings is Lot 152, a Dante Rossetti English Gouache on Paper Work. Featuring a mostly nude woman leaning back to kiss a man wearing a laurel wreath and holding a glass of wine. Signed “Rossetti” to the bottom left. Label affixed to verso reads “Dante Gabriel Rossetti 1828-1882”. Lot 152 features a $3,000 high estimate.

Quality diamonds continue to be a popular hit with buyers and therefore, many will find the inclusion of a 1.009ct Brilliant Cut I Color SI1 Diamond NGIC at Lot 92 a welcome inclusion in the sale. It is expected to surpass its high estimate of $2,400.
Chinese works of art continue to perform surprisingly well at 888 Auctions and this auction looks to continue that strong trend with the inclusion of an understated piece at Lot 305, a Chinese Blue and White Octagonal Yuan Style Vase (High Estimate; $400).
