Imperial Jade Seals Lead the Way at 888 Auctions’ October 27

Richmond Hill, ON – October 27th marks the end of the fall season and 888 Auctions is proud to feature an expansive collection of fresh-to-market items available to the highest bidder. Comprising 425 lots, this auction features an assortment of fine jade, wood, and horn carved pieces, porcelain ceramics, watercolour paintings, and jewelry.

Spearheading the auction will be a pair of extremely rare and fine jade carved items. Considering the prices fetched by items of similar rarity, quality, and age, buyers may initially be reluctant to offer a bid for these items. However, 888 Auctions continues to strive to make the bid-making process as seamless and as hassle free as possible and this October auction will be sure to convince potential bidders these two items are worth both their time and their resources. The headlining lot of the auction is located at Lot 156: a Qing Period Extremely Rare & Fine Spinach Green Jade Seal. The square section is surmounted by a pair of addorsed dragons and the sides inscribed with seal script calligraphy. The seal face is crisply worked with a border enclosing a six-character inscription in seal script reading Shi Quan Lao Ren Zhi Bao (translated, “the treasure of the Old Man of the Ten Completed Great Campaigns”). It carries a high estimate of $1,000,000.

Slotted at Lot 157 is an Extremely Rare Imperial Dragon Seal Da Qin. Of square section and surmounted by a coiling dragon, its head is flanked by long and curved nostrils.  Additionally, the seal face is carved with four-character Da Qing Zhi Bao (meaning the treasure of the Great Qing Dynasty) along with Manchu script. It commands a high estimate of $500,000.

Whether buyers are looking to add a unique item to their growing collection or purchase it as a lifelong investment, interested parties are encouraged to view Lot 156 and 157 as it must be seen to be appreciated.

Not to be outdone is Lot 207, a Certified Grade A Natural Green Jadeite Bangle. In light of the lack of quality jade carved bangles, buyers at 888 Auctions can feel comfortable and secure they are bidding on an accurately described and expert appraised item. The Natural Green (untreated) Jadeite Bangle carries a high estimate of $250,000.

For buyers interested in rare and vintage watches, they may be pleasantly surprised to find a Jaeger-LeCoultre Albatros Moonphase Auto Watch at Lot 228. This timeless piece manufactured in the 1970s features an automatic water-resistant Swiss Made Jaeger-LeCoultre Albatros men’s watch with triple-date Moon phase features ref. #145-202-5, with an original integrated bracelet, made in solid stainless steel/18 k gold. The watch continues to operate and flawlessly keep time and is sure to induce crowd-pleasing excitement on auction day as it finds its lucky owner. It carries a high estimate of $16,000.

Ceramics remain a staple at 888 Auctions and for good reason. This October sale features Lot 287, a Song Dynasty Geyao Porcelain Vase with handles. The body featuring a matrix network of black crackle glaze, the vase is expected to surpass its high estimate of $50,000.
