19th Century European Arts and Antiques Highlights in 888 Auctions’ September 24, 2020 Auction

 

Richmond Hill, ON – With the autumn season in full swing, 888 Auctions will be featuring an excellent collection of works with a special focus highlighting 19th Century European Arts & Antiques. Featuring 373 fresh-to-market items there will be plenty of bidding activity with each and every item available to the highest bidder. The live auction begins with options to bid either online or over the phone starting at 2 PM (EST).

 

The cover lot of the auction is Lot 118, a Jules Perahim (1914-2008, French-Romanian) Framed Oil on Canvas work. Featuring a surrealist composition and signed “Perahim” in the bottom right corner, with “79” inscribed beside the signature, this piece commands a high estimate of $15,000.

 

Two other standout pieces precede this work. Lot 105 features an Oscar Gauthier (1921-2009, French) Oil on Hardboard work. Featuring an abstract expressionist composition and bearing the stamp “GALERIE ARNOUX” on verso, this fine piece is expected to surpass its high estimate of $7,000. Following closely on its heels is Lot 116, a Zoran Music (1909-2005, Italian-Slovenian) Oil on Canvas. Lot 116 features an abstract composition. Signed “MUSIC” in the bottom right corner, with “65” inscribed beside the signature and “MUSIC PONT DE REPERE 1965” inscribed on verso, Lot 116 carries a $15,000 high estimate.

 

What is of particular interest to buyers is the inclusion of several outstanding French pieces in this auction and they can be found at the lots below:

Lot 178: Victor Amedee Faure 1801-1878 French OOC 1866 (High Estimate: $5,000)

Lot 182: Henri Lebasque 1865-1937 French Watercolor (High Estimate: $6,000)
