Richmond Hill, ON – 888 Auctions is pleased to announce its FINE CHINESE ANTIQUES AND WORKS OF ART on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at 2:00 pm Eastern Standard Time, featuring fine paintings, jadeite, jade, porcelain, jewellery, precious stones, metal ware, natural history and wood collectibles.

 

Starting off the evening will be an exciting array of fine paintings, our premium selections can be found at Lot 87: Chinese Painting of Lotus Signed Zhang Daqian, with high estimate of $8,000, Lot 93: Chinese Painting of Figures Signed Ding Yun Peng, with high estimate of $8,000, Lot 105: Chinese Painting of Waterfall Signed Li Ke Ran, with high estimate of $4,000.  And also at Lot 126: Chinese Sage Woods Painting Attributed Fu Baoshi, with high estimate of $8,000.

 

 

Continuing the auction will be our premium quality jadeite bangles located on Lot 163: Fine Translucent Emerald Green Jadeite Bangle, of rich emerald green tone with good lustre, rounded edge with excellent translucency, with high estimate of $8,000. Collectors of jadeite will be also be delighted to find Lot 182: Natural Emerald Green Jadeite Bangle Certified, which is a natural Chinese jadeite carved circular bangle, rounded edge with excellent translucency. Accompanied with appraisal certificate indicated no dye is introduced and replacement value of $30,000, with high estimate of $8,000. Lot 187: Emerald Green Jadeite 18K Gold Ring with 22 Diamonds, one stamped 18K yellow gold ladies’ hand assembled fancy design ring, contains one large emerald green jadeite and twenty-two (22) round brilliant cut diamonds, with high estimate of $6,000.

 

 

Highlighting the auction will be our cover lot, Lot 204: Monumental Chinese Hetian Jade Elephant Boulder, finely carved a tamed elephant playing with child. The stone of celadon tone with brown suffusions, commends the high estimate of $40,000.  Another precious treasure from the same category is located at Lot 210: Fine Chinese Jade Carved Dragon Censer with Lid, the thinly potted censer, finely decorated with continuous landscape and motifs, handles flanked with loose rings, with high estimate of $7,500.  Equally interesting is Lot 219: Chinese Hetian White Jade Guanyin on Wood Plinth, with the high estimate of $2,500.

 

 

Following the jade category will be our precious stone and ceramic collection.  A rare sample of Tianhuang Stone is located on Lot 281: Chinese Tianhuang Stone Figure & Landscape Seal, in rectangular form, finely carved with continuous scenes of figures and landscape. The stone of honey tone. Seal face marked six archaic characters, commends the high estimate of $40,000.  Not to be missed is Lot 358: Pair of Chinese Red Ground Lotus Vases Qianlong Mark, of baluster form with flaring rim, with pair of blue handles on neck, overall glazed in copper red covered with gilt lotus patterns and motifs, base marked six characters Qing Qianlong mark, with high estimate of $6,000.

 

 

Towards the end of the auction, more exciting collectibles will be presented in the bronze section.  A fine example is located on Lot 395: Ming Period Chinese Gilt Gold Bronze Figure, in seated position, commends the high estimate of $6,000 and Lot 412: Pair of Ming Dynasty Bronze Garlic Head Vases, the garlic bulb shaped body with elongated neck extended to a bulbous head, with high estimate of $ 4,000.

 

 

 

 

 

In addition, collectors will be please to find Lot 441: 18th/19th Century Chinese Rhinoceros Horn Cup Kangxi Mark, fine Chinese rhinoceros horn carved libation cup, the horn shaft richly carved with elaborated designs of bamboo, pine tree and leave. With Kangxi imperial mark on base, commands the high estimate of $8,000 and Lot 458: Massive Ivory Carved Tusk, featuring village scene with people working and on a boat, with high estimate of $6,000. Both entries will be expected to take top honours.

Last but not least is our premium wood statue located on Lot 465: Chinese Carved Zitan Wood Guanyin, with elaborately carvings of Guanyin standing on a lotus base atop a qilin with one hand in mudra and the other pouring her bottle of tears, commends the high estimate of $6,000.

The February auction is composed of 506 lots. The preview will be held on Saturday, February 8 from 11 AM to 5 PM, Monday, February 10 from 11 AM to 6 PM, Tuesday, February 11 from 11 AM to 6 PM, Wednesday, February 12 from 11 AM to 6 PM and Thursday, February 13 from 11 AM to 1 PM will be the welcome reception.
