Modern Art, Chinese Coins, and Jewelry Featured Heavily at 888 Auctions March 1

Richmond Hill, ON – From the offering of 398 fresh-to-market items, modern art, Chinese coins and jewelry will feature heavily in the March 1 sale. From small and unique pieces to big name modern pieces, bidders will be excited to see an eclectic collection of items available to the highest bidder; names such as Gerhard Richter, Andy Warhol, and Paul Cezanne are some of the big names featured in this auction.

Headlining the eclectic collection of items will be Lot 56, an oil on glass painting, signed and attributed to Gerhard Richter dated 1977 on the lower left corner, verso. Gerhard Richter is known for his singular and deliberate lack of commitment to a stylistic direction and this rare oil on glass painting is definitely a departure from other forms of aesthetics. This piece is expected to surpass its high estimate of $8,000.

A modern art auction would not be complete without a piece from Andy Warhol, and collectors looking to find a gem may find it at Lot 125, a print on paper, featuring a Studio 54 logo and signed in red marker underneath. Hailing from an Upper New York estate, this piece commands a high estimate of $9,500.

Genuine and ancient Chinese coins continue to make strong headway into 888 Auctions, and collectors will be delighted to find the inclusion of a variety of bronze and silver coins. Cash coins from the Jin to Qing dynasty will be delighted to find them at the following lots:

Lot 167: 959-961 China Southern Tang Tangguo Tongbao Bronze (High Estimate: $150)

Asian decorative arts remain a staple at 888 Auctions despite the significant downturn in the market and collectors can expect to find genuine antiques throughout the catalogue. Four pieces are expected to garner significant interest:
