Impressionist Paintings Feature Heavily in July 4th Auction at 888 Auctions
Richmond Hill, ON – With summer in full swing, 888 Auctions is proud to feature 420 fresh-to-market items and the inclusion of some exciting paintings at its Thursday, July 4, 2019 at 2 PM (EST).
The Impressionist Paintings category continues to remain a hot category and therefore, it’s to no one’s surprise that the star lot of the auction is Lot 150, a Winston Churchill British Impressionist Oil on Canvas Painting. Featuring a still life of a bouquet of flowers and signed WSC on the lower right corner, Lot 150 is expected to surpass its high estimate of $7,000.
Fauvist paintings remain a staple at 888 Auctions and clients with a keen eye will be intrigued to find the inclusion of three very unique pieces at the lots below:
Lot 23: Georges Rouault French Fauvist Gouache on Paper (High Estimate: $5,000)
Lot 148: Henri Manguin French Fauvist Tempera Portrait (High Estimate: $5,000)
Lot 160: Henri Matisse French Fauvist Pencil Crayon (High Estimate: $5,000)
From the Surrealist Paintings category, one stands out among the rest; Lot 166, an attributed Joan Miro Spanish Surrealist Gouache on Paper, features a surrealist composition. Inscribed MiRO and 26/VII/76 on verso and stamped FUNACION MIRO on verso with an illegible signature, this piece is expected to surpass its high estimate of $7,000.
