Jacques Bouyssou
Jacques Bouyssou was born in northern France’s Honfleur in 1926 and was introduced to art at an early age. While growing up, he was mentored and tutored by well-known artists of the day, who would frequent his family’s house regularly. He plied his craft while maturing, and had several opportunities to showcase his own works. Once, after a solo exhibition in London in 1955, he was approached by the grand dame of Parisian dealers, Katia Granoff. Soon enough, she became his major sponsor and helped propel his profile and career. In 1987, he was named as an official painter of the French National Navy and a piece in the permanent collection of Musee de la Marine in Paris. His collections are dispersed throughout France and the world and also held in some private collections.
