Fine Art, Loose Gemstones & Asian Antiques Feature Heavily at 888 Auctions December 3, 2020 Auction

 

Richmond Hill, ON – The auction market continues to perform above expectations amid the uncertainty surrounding COVID-19. With most bidders now fully acclimated to participating online, 888 Auctions continues to attract new participants to its live auctions. December 3, 2020 marks the penultimate auction of, 2020 auction with an emphasis on Fine Art, Loose Gemstones & Asian Antiques. With an offering of 331 fresh-to-market items, the online auction begins at 2 PM (EST) on Thursday, December 3, 2020.

 

Fine art continues to be the strongest performing category with Lot 234 leading the wide assortment of paintings featured in this week’s auction. Lot 234 is a Jim Dine American Pop Acrylic on Canvas. Dated 1984 and featured a red heart against a green-yellow background, it is signed Jim Dine and inscribed 1984 beside the signature. Hailing from a Private American collection in Florida, this piece is expected to surpass its high estimate of $2,000.

Asian antiques continue to draw an (online) crowd with many participants finding Lot 310 and Lot 316 particularly noteworthy. Lot 310 is a Chinese Green Jade Carved Village Boulder. Featuring a natural boulder shape and carved with village scenes in relief, this apple green tone with russet skin boulder carving commands a high estimate of $2,000.

 

Lot 316 is a Burma Mixed Tone Jadeite Carved Bangle. Accompanied with a certificate and of translucent mixed green and mottled brown tone, the bangle is expected to find a buyer within its $3,000-5,000 estimate.
