Richmond Hill, ON – With the winter auction season in full swing, 888 Auctions is proud to feature Estate Paintings, Pop Art and Certified Gems with live bidding taking place on the gallery floor of 888 Auctions Thursday, Feb 13, 2020 at 2 PM (EDT).
Visit the auction at 888 Auctions during the public viewing period: Monday, February 10, 2020 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesday, February 11 2020 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Wednesday, February 12, 2020 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m and just before the auction on Thursday, February 13, 2020 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The highlight for this auction features an interesting but wonderfully executed piece at Lot 78, an attributed Marcel Stockmans American Oil on Board Painting. This oil on board piece features women harvesting cotton. Signed “Marcel Stockmans” in the lower right corner with a “BYRANT GALLERIES JACKSON NEW ORLEANS” label on verso, Lot 78 is expected to surpass its high estimate of $600.
Another standout piece from a Toronto estate can be found at Lot 71, a Leon Belaunzaran (born 1944, Mexican) acrylic on canvas painting. Titled, “The Market” or “El Mercado,” this piece is framed in gold gilt frame and signed on the lower left corner. It features a high estimate of $5,000.

Pop art continues to be a strong performing category and within this category, buyers will be delighted to find the inclusion of Lot 52, an attributed Andy Warhol American Pop Ink on Paper painting. Featuring a revolver and signed Andy Warhol on the lower left corner, this piece features a label affixed to verso inscribed Arthur Tooth Gallery London England. This piece carries a high estimate of $2,000.
