Qianlong Mark and Period Blue and White Saucer Headlines 888 Auctions November 17
Richmond Hill, ON – November 17th marks the penultimate sale of the year featuring Chinese and Asian Antiques. 888 Auctions is proud to feature an expansive collection of fresh-to-market items available to the highest bidder. Comprising 424 lots, this auction features an assortment of fine jade, wood, and horn carved pieces, porcelain ceramics, watercolour paintings, and jewelry.
Headlining the auction will be an extremely rare Chinese Blue and White Porcelain Plate. The saucer features a centre of the interior is painted with a medallion enclosing the Three Friends of Winter (pine, bamboo, and plum) while the exterior is painted with monk and lady figural scenes at courtyard. The ceramic bears a six-character Qianlong Mark and is of the Period. Featuring exceptional provenance, buyers of 888 Auctions can bid with full confidence. The porcelain saucer measuring 18cm in diameter carries a high estimate of $160,000.
Quality bronze pieces have been far and few between but this auction will shine the spotlight on two quality lots slotted at Lot 370 and Lot 384. Lot 370 features a Chinese Archaic Bronze Tripod Jiao Wine Vessel. The vessel features a lobed body with flaring rim terminating to two opposing points and set with a curved handle on the side. The body is decorated with taotie patterns divided by vertical blunt flanges. 888 Auctions’ in-house Spectrometer testing shows the absence of Nickel (Ni) and the presence of an ancient element, Sb Antimony. Possibly hailing from the Shang, Zhou, or Han Period, this vessel carries a $30,000 high estimate and is another fine piece that should be bid with utmost confidence considering its analysis and spectrometer testing.
Lot 384 features a Chinese Fine Bronze Buddha hailing from the 17th Century. The Chinese fine gilt bronze figure depicts Buddha seated in vajraparyankasana atop a double-lotus plint. It carries a $40,000 high estimate .
