Round Brilliant 2.45 ct. Diamond to Headline 888 Fine Chinese Jewellery & Works of Art Auction.
Richmond Hill, Ontario – 888 Auctions will showcase a fine collection of over 550 lots on Thursday, June 5th at 1PM EDT. Fine Chinese jewellery, high quality jadeite stones, porcelains, watercolour paintings, and Tianhuang stone carvings will be available to the highest bidder.
Headlining the auction is a Round Brilliant 2.45 ct. Diamond Ring. Expected to exceed its high estimate of $20,000, collectors will find it at Lot 196.
With a plethora of jadeite stone carvings in the market, collectors will find markedly different and higher quality, Grade A jadeite pendants at 888 Auctions. A Chinese Grade A Jadeite Leaf G18K Bail & Diamonds Pendant (High Estimate: $3,000) and a Grade A Emerald Green Jadeite 18k Diamond Pendant (High Estimate: $4,000) can be found at Lot 180 and Lot 183, respectively. In addition, a Charming Pair of Chinese Jadeite Carved Earrings can be found at Lot 184 (High Estimate: $1,600).
Highlighting the paintings in the sale are two Chinese watercolour paintings:
Lot 101: a River Scene Watercolour Painting attributed to the famous Qing painter, Bian Shou Min
In spite of the strong market for jadeite carvings, Hetian White jade carvings continues to entice buyers of these exquisitely carved works of art. A Qing Period White Jade Ruyi Scepter featuring carefully detailed relief carvings of auspicious symbols of monkeys, lingzhi, and tong bao coins sits at Lot 262 and commands a high estimate of $20,000. For those seeking older finely carved jade carvings would be remiss to ignore Lot 309, a 15th Century Ming Dynasty Openwork Jade Hair Ornament. The openwork carved jade hair ornament features lotus trees and crane in relief. This translucent white jade carving is featured with a high estimate of $6,500.
Among the more unusual items, bidders will find a very Rare People’s Republic of China gold medal commemorative coin at Lot 511. This rare coin is one of 780 gold medals issued for distribution during the April 1978 Exhibition of Archaeological Finds of the People’s Republic of China held in Hong King. The gold coin weighs in at 1.5 ounces and accompanied with a certificate of authenticity. It commands a high estimate of $3,000.
