Richmond Hill, ON – 888 Auctions’ Thursday, July 18, 2013 sale of CHINESE HORN CARVINGS AND ASIAN WORKS OF ART will begin at 2:00 pm Eastern Standard Time, featuring 647 lots of an exciting array of fine natural historycollections, jade and jadeite items, Chinese paintings, porcelain, jewelleries, precious stones and metal wares.

Highlighting the summer sale will be Lot 18, Chinese Watercolour Painting Book Pu Zuo 12 Pages, featuring 7 paintings and calligraphy by Pu Zuo with artist signatures and seals, it is expected to exceed its high estimate of $15,000. Lot 55, Chinese Watercolour Painting Zheng Ping Xuan, painted general and attendants under pine tree, signed Zheng Ping Xuan, carries a high estimate of $5,000.

 

A fine example of rhinoceros horn carvings is presented by Lot 156, Fine Chinese Rhinoceros Horn Carved Libation Cup, the horn shaft richly carved with elaborated grapes and animals, with high estimate at $4,000.  In addition, great attention among the important group of Nature History fixed on Lot 160, Fine Chinese Rhinoceros Horn Carved Libation Cup with high estimate of $8,000.

Collectors and connoisseurs of jade and jadeite will be delighted to find fine quality lots located from lot 290 to 466. Led by Lot 321, Antique Chinese Celadon Jade Carved Chain Belt, composed of seventeen pieces of fine jade plaques with jade links, featuring the twelve zodiac animals and longevity symbols from the prominent T. Ng Collection Toronto, with high estimate of $7,500. Also from the same collection is Lot 336, Chinese White Jade Boulder Carved Group of Boys, very delicately carved large jade boulder, featuring group of auspicious children riding onto stylized clouds on custom wood stand, commends the high estimate of $6,000. Followed by Lot 355, Chinese Hetian Jade Buddha 19th Century with Certificate, large genuine Hetian jade boulder certified as authentic Hetian jade, with high estimate of $8,000 will surely captive art collectors’ attention. Equally important are our premium quality jadeite bangles, located on Lot 422 is Fine Chinese Emerald Green Jadeite Carved Bangle, of rich emerald green tone with excellent translucency is expected to surpass its high estimate of $8,000. And Lot 432, Fine Pair of Chinese Emerald Green Jadeite Bangles, with high estimate of $6,000.

In spite of our excellent collection of Chinese jade and jadeite, our prestigious collection of porcelain is equally impressive. Highlighting Lot 499, Chinese Famille Rose Brushpot with Wanli Mark, beautifully painted with auspicious pomegranate and sparrow, commends the high estimate of $6,000. And Lot 508, Chinese Blue & White Five Claws Dragon Charger, of medallion shaped with petal rims, presented with painted confronting five-claw dragons, is with high estimate of $5,000. Last but not least, located on Lot 548, Chinese Famille Rose Open Work Vase w Qianlong Mark, of baluster form, richly painting with floral and sprigs, featuring open works carvings which reveals the blue and white interior, commends the high estimate of $6,000.

Other item of collectors’ interest located on Lot 243 Chinese Shoushan Stone Carved Group of Lohans, of superb craftsmanship presented on Hardstone carved stand incised with gilt Buddhist script, commends the high estimate of $3500.
