Modern Paintings and Jewelry Lead the Way February 15 at 888 Auctions

Richmond Hill, ON – Fine modern paintings lead the way in the February 15 auction with an offering of 401 fresh-to-market items available to the highest bidder. Headlining such an exciting lineup will be Lot 26, a Zhang Daqian watercolor and ink painting, mounted on a hanging scroll. This painting features exceptional provenance and is accompanied with a certificate of authenticity. Featuring a nobleman on a horse, this lot features a high estimate of $60,000.

Nestled within the modern art paintings is a rare Korean piece: lot 102, a Korean Oil on Canvas painting (Circa 1970) featuring a Traditional Korean Marriage.  Boasting a high estimate of $1,200, this painting depicts a side profile portrait of a Korean woman in traditional dress leaving the home after marriage with a pair of Mandarin ducks symbolically placed above her head signifying auspiciousness, love and marriage.
