April 27 Auction Spotlights Jewelry, Jade, and Asian Furniture at 888 Auctions

Richmond Hill, ON – April 27th marks the first auction of the summer season and collectors will be pleased to find the inclusion of 452 lots at its JEWELRY, JADE & ASIAN FURNITURE sale. Featuring fine jade carvings, jewelry, ceramic porcelains and Asian furniture there is plenty of hidden gems in the fresh-to-market collection of items at 888 Auctions’ summer sale.

The highlight of the auction comes in the form of Lot 114, an Extremely Rare Chinese Imperial Hetian Jade Sword. The white jade carved stone is accompanied with a sheath carved with openwork dragon. What is particularly noteworthy is not only the quality of the carving but the personalized nature of the carving with the inclusion of the Chinese character calligraphy in seal script carved on one side of the sword. The hand guard is likewise, carved with a mythical beast head and the pommel carved with a crouching tiger. Collectors will be delighted to find the quality of the translucent white jade and its commandment of a high estimate of $250,000.

Among other jade carved items in the auction, two other lots have been garnering significant interest:

Lot 134: Chinese Fine Emerald Green Jadeite Carved Bangle (High Estimate: $4,000)

Lot 143: Burma Green Jadeite Carved Bangle ‘A’ Grade accompanied with GIA Certificate (High Estimate: $4,000)

Jewelry continues to draw strong interest from collectors around the world and 888 Auctions is proud to present accurately estimated and quality offerings April 27. From the collection of jewelry items available for bidding, the following three lots have been highlighted for the discerning buyer:

Lot 192: 14k Gold 2.35ct Tanzanite & Diamond Ring (High Estimate: $2,400)

Lot 196: 10k White Gold 3.02ct Emerald Ring (High Estimate: $1,600)

Lot 200: 14k Gold 0.44ct Solitarie Ring (High Estimate: $2,400)

888 Auctions continues to diversify its offering of unique items; therefore, collectors and buyers should be excited about the inclusion of Lot 353, a Collection of Extremely Rare 19th Century Stamps. Containing over 1,000 stamps from around the world and categorized by country, this item must be seen to be appreciated. Quality hand-carved furniture is a staple at 888 Auctions and the inclusion of three lots should be enough to get you excited. Lot 426 features a 4 Piece Chinese Rosewood Carved Chair Set. Each hand-carved chair features a backrest and armrest that is openwork carved in a stylized gnarled design with the backrest set featuring a round marble carved plate. Carrying dimensions of 109 cm x 62 cm x 48 cm, this set is expected to surpass its high estimate of $5,000.

Hailing from the same collector is Lot 429, a Chinese Rosewood Carved Sofa. Decorated with openwork carved designs on the backrest and accompanied with a fitted cushion, this sofa carries a high estimate of $3,200.

Last but certainly not least is Lot 440, Chinese Rosewood Carved Opium Bed with Inset Marble. The Chinese rosewood carved opium bed features scrollwork and marble dreamstone inset on headboard. It carries a high estimate of $40,000.
