888 Auctions’ February Auction Featuring Quality Chinese Ceramics & Asian Works of Art

Richmond Hill, Ontario – 481 fine items will be available to the highest bidder on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at 1 p.m. EDT; featuring Chinese Ceramics and Asian Works of Art, this auction features important Chinese ceramics, Tianhuang stone carvings, jewellery, watercolour paintings, and furniture.

Despite the sudden downturn in the market, Chinese works of art and antiques continue to hold a strong interest for collectors and investors. Chinese ceramics have enjoyed a particularly delightful resurgence and 888 Auctions will be featuring standout pieces fresh to market.

Collectors will be especially interested in Lot 291: Chinese Famille Rose Porcelain Vase Qianlong Mark. The imperial gilt Famille Rose enameled porcelain vase features an ovoid body with broad shoulders. Decorated with panels of flowers and bird on floral scrollwork ground and the base marked with a six-character Qianlong Mark, the impressive vase commands a $40,000 high estimate.

Not to be outdone, Lot 292: Chinese Blue and White Porcelain Double Chilong Handled Vase also figures to command attention on the auction floor. The vase bears a six-character Ming Wanli Mark on the mouth rim and is expected to exceed its high estimate of $40,000.

The star lot of the auction however goes to Lot 294: Chinese Famille Rose Porcelain Vase Qianlong Mark. The Chinese gilt Famille Rose enameled porcelain vase with broad shoulders and double tubular ears features an auspicious flower and children motif on sky-blue glazed ground. Bearing the six-character Qianlong Mark on base, Famille Rose Porcelain Vase demands attention with its $120,000 high estimate.

Tianhuang stone carvings are especially prized for their rarity and 888 Auctions is proud to present a Qing Period Tianhuang Carving at Lot 126. It is expected to surpass its high estimate of $20,000.
