888 Auctions Ushers in New Era with Luxury Watches and Grade A British Columbia Jade in March 3 Auction

Richmond Hill, Ontario – 484 fine items, fresh-to-market will be available to the highest bidder on Thursday March 3, 2016 at 1 p.m. EDT. Featuring a variety of Chinese ceramics, stone carved figures, jewellery, watches, and watercolour paintings, this month’s auction will have something for everyone.

Jade carved items continue to draw strong interest on the open market; however, what will come as a pleasant surprise for buyers and sellers at 888 Auctions will be its exclusive dealing of Canadian BC jade. In addition to its unparalleled quality and rarity, the prismatic and radiant jade will be originating directly out of mines hailing from British Columbia.  Collected from untapped jade depots in British Columbia, jade pieces will be making regular appearances at 888 Auctions’ monthly sales; collectors will be able to bid on Grade A green jade starting Thursday, March 3, 2016.

Following closely on the heels of Grade A jade pieces, 888 Auctions will be featuring a very strong collection of watches. Collectors stand to reap the benefits as 888 Auctions continues to scour the globe for high quality watches from collectors all around the world. Brands such as Rolex, Omega, and Patek Phillipe are just one of the many brands featuring in this month’s auction. These collectible timepieces are an excellent financial investment and will continue to appreciate with time.

Two watches featured in this month’s auction will be of particular interest to collectors. Lot 227 is a Rolex Oyster President Day-date 18K Gold Ref. 1803. The President Oyster Perpetual Day-Date Chronometer is an automatic men’s watch in a 18K solid gold case with a serial #42055xx, manufactured in 1974. The watch is solid and heavy with a total weight 121 g! The watch comes in nice clean condition including its original 18k solid-gold Rolex President bracelet with a folding clasp, that closes tightly and precisely, and would fit up to 7 1/2″ inch. (19 cm) wrist size. The stunning watch is adorned in a heavy 18k gold case with a rare original black-colour finish dial and is running strong and keeping time. Authenticity is guaranteed. It is expected to far exceed its high estimate of $25,000.

Lot 230 is also a standout piece: Omega Constellation 18K Gold Ultra-thin Auto Watch. This outstanding vintage men’s watch features a solid 18K yellow-gold case with nicely shaped lugs, manufactured in 1968 according to the movement’s serial number. This is a rare thin Omega Constellation model with an ultra-thin Omega 711 caliber movement. The watch is all-original, excepting the newer band, and is a desirable piece for Omega Constellation collectors. It comes in a vintage Omega red zipped box. Its high estimate is $6,000.

Important Chinese ceramics remain a staple at 888 Auctions and this March sale is no exception. Despite a general global economic downturn, ceramic pieces are remarkable in their investment value. Lot 341 is one such piece: a Chinese Blue and White Porcelain Vase bearing Yongle Mark commands a $12,000 high estimate, while Lot 308: a Yuan/Ming Copper Red Blue and White Square Porcelain Teapot carries a $6,000 high estimate. Further down the list is Lot 359: a Yuan/Ming Chinese Blue and White Copper Red Porcelain Vase carrying a $6,000 high estimate.

From the collection of watercolour paintings, Lot 26 must be highlighted for its quality and its painting. Featuring the masterful brushwork of Huang Zhou (1925-1997), Lot 26 carries a high estimate of $12,000.
