888 Auctions’ Last Summer July 21st Sale Featuring Chinese Paintings, Ceramics & Works of Art

Richmond Hill, ON – 888 Auctions’ last summer auction of the year will take place on July 21st, 2016 featuring an eclectic selection of over 470 rare, fresh-to-market Chinese Paintings, Ceramics, & Works of Art.

The beginning of the auction will feature 888 Auctions’ staple of quality watercolour paintings. Highlight the paintings category will be two lots from the early twentieth century. Lot 45, an Ink on Paper Scroll Zhang Ce (b.1957) and Lot 48, a Watercolour on Paper Scroll Yuan Xiaocen (1915-2008) carry an $8,000 and $3,200 high estimate, respectively. Both have been garnering considerable interest in the lead up to the auction.

From the collection of ceramics up for bidding are two lots of considerable quality; Lot 282, a Fine Famille Rose Porcelain Water Pot features an iron-red six-character Jiaqing Mark on base and carries a respectable $20,000 high estimate. This is followed closely by Lot 284, a Fine Blue & White Porcelain Waterpot featuring Kangxi Mark. The waterpot features a dragon and phoenix in antithetical positions flanking a flaming pearl amid swirling lingzhi-shaped clouds. Lot 284 commands a high estimate of $30,000.

Lot 269: Blue & White Copper Red Porcelain Bowl Xianfeng Mark (High Estimate: $6,000)

Lot 314: Blue & White Large Porcelain Charger Xuande Mark (High Estimate: $5,000)

From the collection of jade, 888 Auctions is proud to present two lots of outstanding quality. The first lot can be found at Lot 189, a Rare and Fine Imperial Green Jade Carved Seal is surmounted by a pair of intertwining dragons. The seal with incised sides with calligraphy script also features a seal face with six-character the seal face carved with six-character Yongzheng Chiming Zhibao. Weighing a hefty 3,124 grams, this quality imperial green jade seal is expected to surpass its high estimate of $50,000.

The second lot from the collection of jade up for bidding can be found at Lot 240, a Fine Chinese Emerald Green Jadeite Ring with Diamond. The 18K yellow gold emerald green jadeite ring is set with an oval cabochon jadeite flanked by a baguette-cut and brilliant-cut diamond rings. It commands a $50,000 high estimate and must be seen in person on the gallery floor.

Lastly, Lot 454 features a Fine Chinese Gold Gilt Bronze Buddha Figure. Seated in dhyanasana with hands in dhyana mudra the regally crowned figure of Kshitigarbha bodhisattva bears a six-character Ming Yongle Mark on the front of the double-lotus pedestal and is expected to surpass its high estimate of $16,000. The base is sealed with a double-carp mark and weighs 7 kilograms.
