Richmond Hill, ON – Thursday, January 14th will mark the first auction of the year at 888 Auctions and will be featuring over 470 fresh to market items.

Despite economic uncertainty heading into the new year, high quality works of art continue to be available for the discerning collector. Spearheading the sale will be Lot 159, a Chinese Tianhuang stone carved seal; of square form and featuring figural landscape scene in low relief carved onto a yellow orange toned stone, the charming stone seal is expected to surpass its high estimate of $20,000.

Porcelains continue to experience a resurgence and this auction will be featuring a plethora of ceramic pieces. Collectors will be keenly interested in Lot 370, a Chinese Famille Rose enamelled porcelain vase featuring a four-character Yongzheng Mark on base. The porcelain vase features a garlic bulb-shaped mouth atop a baluster body. Painted on turquoise ground, the body features flower and bird motif on leafy scrollwork ground. The vase is expected to surpass its high estimate of $15,000.

This lot will be followed closely by Lot 378, a Pair of Chinese Famille Rose Porcelain Vases; of baluster form and featuring gilt flower patterns on body, the pair of vases bearing a six-character Qianlong Mark commands a $7,000 high estimate.
