888 Auctions Ushers in Spring with April 14 Auction, Spring Asian Antiques & Estate

Richmond Hill, Ontario – 888 Auctions will usher in the spring season with their Spring Asian Antiques & Estates auction featuring an eclectic collection of 434 fresh-to-market items on Thursday, April 14th, 2016. The auction features a wide breadth of important Chinese ceramics. watercolour paintings, rare bronze figures, and finely carved jade pieces.

From the collection of jade carved pieces, three pieces stand out from the rest; two of these pieces hail from the province of British Columbia and those looking to invest may not find a better find than 888 Auctions’ collection of Grade A carved pieces. Buyers will be able to find them at the following lots:

Lot 136: Canadian B.C. Grade A Green Jade Guanyin Pendant (High Estimate: $750)

Lot 145: Canadian B.C. Grade A Green Jade Facet Bangle (High Estimate: $2,500)

Collectors of ceramics will not be disappointed in the spring collection of lots. With pieces hailing from the 17th Century to the 20th and decorated in various motifs, there will surely be something for everyone and at the right price. Some lots of interest can be found below:

Lot 283: Fine 19th Century Blue & White Porcelain Jardiniere (High Estimate: $10,000)

Lot 284: Famille Rose Porcelain Jar with Cover Qianlong Mark (High Estimate: $12,000)

Lot 299: 17th Century Pair Chinese Wucai Porcelain Jars Wanli Marked (High Estimate: $8,000)

Lot 303: Large Copper Red Yuan/Ming Porcelain Vase (High Estimate: $8,000)

Lot 338: Chinese Famille Rose Porcelain Vase Qianlong Mark (High Estimate: $16,000)

Quality bronze figures are becoming increasingly difficult to find on the market but the spring auction features one standout piece that could easily surpass its high estimate: Lot 405, a rare gilt bronze figure (Tang Period) features a man wearing robe and scholar’s hat. Standing atop a custom-made wood carved stand, the 32cm-high commands a high estimate of $10,000.

Among the watercolour paintings that remain a staple, collectors will be pleased to find artwork signed by the masters, Qi Baishi (High Estimate: $12,000) and Zhang Daqian (High Estimate: $20,000) at Lot 31 and Lot 71 respectively.

Despite, the quality items up for auction, Lot 223, a Longines Fly-back Chronograph 18k Rose-gold 30CH has captured the most interest and has conjured the most intrigue. 888 Auctions continues to auction high quality watches and this standout piece is sure to generate bidding at a rapid pace. It commands a high estimate of $15,000.
