Coming off an auction that saw remarkable prices achieved for Chinese ceramics and finely carved carvings, 888 Auctions will kickstart the fall season highlighting an excellent collection of Chinese cravings, ceramics, and various works of art.

Exceptional porcelain ceramics continue to be in high demand and the September sale will feature two magnificent lots. Collectors will be pleased to find Lot 377: a Chinese Porcelain Dayazhai Vase bearing the Mark of Yongqing. Bearing a three-character Dayazhai mark on body and decorated with auspicious designs featuring clusters of peonies and orchid on the turquoise ground, the vase carries a high estimate of $10,000.

Not to be outdone, Lot 382 features a Magnificent Pair of 18th Century Famille Rose Porcelain Vases. Each vase is painted to the body with a circular panel depicting European Horsemen and Dogs. The base bears the mark of Qianlong. The pair of vases is expected to exceed its high estimate of $24,000.

Stone carvings are a mainstay in sales of 888 Auctions and this sale is no exception. Collectors of unique items of antiquity will be pleased to find Lot 106: a Sabean Antique Ceremonial Stone Dagger. Hailing from the Kingdom of Sheba, the stone is carved of natural pink marble stone in the form of Omani Khanjar. Decorated with the Sun God on the sheath as well as the blade, the ceremonial dagger commands a $50,000 high estimate.

Although not quite possessing the history of the Sabean Ceremonial Dagger, the unique rarity of Tianhuang stone makes Lot 115 a remarkable item. Slotted in at Lot 115, the 19th Century Chinese Tianhuang Stone Carved Dragon Seal is signed with artist’s signature and features a carved base. The Tianhuang stone carved seal carries a $30,000 high estimate.

Lot 238 features a Chinese Imperial White Jade Carved Seal. Intricately carved in open relief, the coiling dragon is surmounted atop a square seal base.  The white and grey toned white jade carved seal carries an impressive yet conservative $30,000 high estimate.

Cloisonné pieces continue to attract attraction from buyers from all over the world. Lot 431, Fine Gilt Bronze Chinese Cloisonné Vase will be sure to attract bidders to its conservative estimate of $30,000. The vase is of meiping design and bears the mark of Qianlong. Estimated to be from the 18th Century and 19th Century, the $30,000 high estimate reflects both its quality and its age.

Collectors interested in items with strong provenance may be interested in Lot 419: A Set of Seven Thailand Silverware from Worldvision Thailand. Comprised of three silver bowls and four ladles it is decorated with village figural scenes in relief. The inscription on the body of the bowl reads, “STAFF OF THE WORLD VISION FOUNDATION OF THAILAND PRESENTED TO REV.J.DON SCOTT WHO INITIATED AND HAS LED THIS FOUNDATION TO GREAT SUCCEES 1974-1977”.
