Dazzling Green Jadeite Diamond and Platinum Ring Headlines 888 Auctions’ Fine Chinese & Asian Works of Art Sale

Richmond Hill, ON – 888 Auctions will be featuring Fine Chinese and Asian Works of Art on Thursday, October 1st, 2015. The 512-lot sale will be held at 888 Auctions’ saleroom gallery and will begin at 2 p.m. Eastern.

The auction will showcase an exciting and varied collection of Asian art and antiques including but not limited to porcelains, paintings jewellery, jade and Tianhuang stone carvings, Buddhist deities, as well as finely carved furniture pieces. Items have been selected for their fine aesthetic value and rarity.

The past year has been quite fortuitous for collectors of porcelain and if 888 Auctions’ recent sales are any indication, porcelain ceramics have consistently hammered above their respective estimates and generated excitement and intrigue.

However, the showcase piece of the October 1st auction will feature Lot 210: a Green Jadeite & Diamond & Platinum Ring. The professionally refined cabochon-cut emerald green jade is surrounded by numerous marquise-cut diamonds and carries a high estimate of $20,000.

Among the list of notable stone carvings, Lot 266: a Chinese Green Fine Carved Jade Dragon Water Pot stands out as a unique piece. Considering its size, spinach green tone, and intricately carved archaistic patterns, the water pot is modestly valued at a high estimate of $10,000.

The last highlighted stone carving features Lot 147: Chinese Fine Tianhuang Stone Carved Boulder with case. Of natural form and featuring figures and landscape in low relief, the honey yellow toned Tianhuang stone carries a $25,000 high estimate and is expected to garner considerable interest in light of the dearth of genuine Tianhuang stone carved boulders today.

Chinese watercolour brush-wash paintings are a staple and collectors may find what they are looking for at the following lots:

Lot 24: Watercolour on Silk Scroll Hunting Jin Tingbiao (Qing) (High Estimate: $6,000)

Lot 71: Chinese WC Figures Huang Shanshou 1855-1919

An 888 Auctions held this year would not be complete without its collection of quality porcelain ceramics. Leading the list of quality items is Lot 339A: Fine Chinese Red & Blue Relief Carved Flower Jar. Hailing from the Chinese Ming/Qing Period and featuring underglazed red insects and floral scrollwork on the ovoid body, the jar commands a high estimate of $10,000. Following closely behind is Lot 390A: Pair Chinese Famille Verte Carved Vase. Bearing the seal of Kangxi, the pair of porcelain vases features a globular body with carved Daoist Immortals scene with openwork carved clouds and bats. The turquoise-ground pair of Chinese Famille Verte enameled vases carries a high estimate of $8,000.

Collectors may also be interested in these porcelain pieces:

Lot 365: Chinese Porcelain Vase Signed Kangxi Mark (High Estimate: $8,000)

Lot 378: Chinese Immortal Painted Porcelain Vase Qianlong Mark (High Estimate: $4,000)
