888 Auctions’ Mid-Summer June 25 Sale Featuring Fine Chinese Carvings and Watercolour Paintings

Richmond Hill, Ontario – Over 500 fine Chinese carvings and works of art—to include jade and Tianhuang stone carvings, jewellery, watercolour paintings, porcelains and silver—will be sold to the highest bidder on Thursday, June 25th, by 888 Auctions at 1 p.m. EDT.

Hot off the heels of an auction that saw some remarkable prices, 888 Auctions’ mid-summer sale of the year will be highlighting an exceptional collection of watercolour paintings, stone carvings, and fine porcelain.

Quality stone carvings continue to experience renewed interest from collectors. A fine example can be found at Lot 159: a rare Chinese Tianhuang Stone Seal, accompanied with a custom rosewood carved stand. Commanding a high estimate of $50,000, this genuine Tianhuang stone seal is sure to capture great interest leading up to the auction day.

Following closely behind the Tianhuang stone seal will be one of the featured lots of the day at Lot 167A: a Fine Chinese Chicken Bloodstone. Featuring delicate carvings of dragons and strings of money amidst ruyi-head cloud scrolls, this breathtaking relief carving is signed by the artist and rests atop a shoushan stone carved stand. The boulder of translucent red, yellow, and grey tone is expected to surpass its high estimate of $60,000.

Considering the high prices achieved by watercolour paintings from the June 4th, auction, collectors should be delighted in knowing the inclusion of four watercolour paintings at the following lots:

Lot 51: Chinese WC Landscape Scroll Zha Shibiao 1615-1698 (High Estimate: $6,000)

Lot 52: Chinese WC Landscape Scroll by Qiu Ying 1498-1552 (High Estimate: $6,000)

Lot 53: Chinese Landscape Hand Scroll Lin Sanzhi 1898-1989 (High Estimate: $6,000)

Lot 54: Landscape Scroll Wang Xuehao 1754-1831 (High Estimate: 6,000)

Chinese porcelains continue to be dogged by reproductions; however, Lot 390 may catch those who are interested in fine ceramics. Lot 390, a Chinese Gold Gilt Red Ground Porcelain Vase Republic Period is remarkable in its colour and its age. It is conservatively set with a high estimate of $2,000.

For those looking to adorn fine jewellery, collectors may be intrigued by Lot 298: a Gold Emerald (1.0ct) and Diamond Ring. Estimate at $5,000, the diamond ring is expected to exceed expectations and surpass its high estimate.

Preview will be held Saturday, June 20th from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Monday, June 22nd from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday, June 23rd, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday, June 24th, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday, June 25th, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
