888 Auctions’ August 14 Sale to Showcase Important Kangxi Mark and Period Famille Verte Porcelain Vase

Richmond Hill, ON – 888 Auctions’ August 14th sale of Chinese Ceramics & Traditional Paintings will showcase 532 lots of an exciting array of Chinese Works of Art.

Highlighting the autumn sale will be an in Important 17th or 18th Century Famille Verte enameled porcelain vase, Kangxi Mark and possibly of the Period located in the heart of auction at Lot 318. The well-potted ovoid bodied vase is an excellent example of Famille Verte enamelling featuring a continuous scene of Immortals holding auspicious objects amid swirling ruyi-head cloud scrolls; the shoulders are decorated with a simple scroll bearing lotus flowers. Collectors keen on the provenance of the vase will be delighted by the inclusion of a 1984 certificate from Hong Kong. The vase commands a $12,000 high estimate.

From the collection of Yixing Zisha pottery teapots that have become a staple at 888 Auctions comes Lot 345: a Fine 15th Century Signed and Dated Chinese Yixing Zisha Tea Pot. Signed by an artist (1573-1648) hailing from the Ming Wanli Period to Qing Shunzhi Period, the teapot is comparable to those sold for up to 13,440,000 RMB; this teapot respects a high estimate of $6,000.

  • Lot 311: Imperial Style Famille Rose Openwork Vase Qianlong (High Estimate: $4,000)
  • Lot 312: Imperial Style Revolving Dragon Vase Qianlong (High Estimate: $4,000)
  • Lot 313: Chinese Famille Rose Dragon Carved Vase Yongzheng Mark (High Estimate: $3,500)

From the collection of jade carved works of art, 888 Auctions is proud to feature a Fine Chinese Spinach Green Jade Carved Horse Ming Yongle Marked (Lot 160). Measuring 15.5 cm in length and marked with a six-character red Yongle Mark on base, the recumbent horse is accented and supported by superb Huanghuali rosewood carved stand. It is expected to exceed its $12,000 high estimate. The jade carved horse is followed by Lot 206: a Translucent Chinese Emerald Green Jadeite Bangle which carries a high estimate of $8,000.

888 Auctions’ stable of traditional watercolour paintings continues to be a mainstay in its monthly offerings; this auction is notable for its inclusion of not one but three excellent paintings. Lot 6, a Chinese Watercolour Girls signed Fu Baoshi (1904-1965) and Lot 65, a Chinese Watercolour Landscape Huang Bin Hong both command a $8,000 high estimate while Lot 28, a Chinese Watercolour Landscape Painting Signed Xi Gang (1746-1803) demands a $5,000 high estimate.
